FOCUS AREA · RESEARCH & ADVOCACY

What we learn in one community should change policy for hundreds.

Fieldwork produces evidence. Evidence, used well, changes decisions far beyond the village where it was gathered. ReliefEcho researches what actually works — then takes it to the people with the power to scale it.

THE CHALLENGE

Good programmes end. Good policy compounds.

A borehole serves one community. A change in how a district plans, funds and maintains its water points serves every community in it. Yet decisions affecting rural Northern Ghana are too often made without reliable data from the communities they affect most.

Because ReliefEcho works directly on the ground across water, farming, education, climate and emergency response, we're positioned to gather exactly the evidence that's missing — and obliged to make sure it's heard.

OUR APPROACH

What a ReliefEcho research programme delivers

Community-Based Research

Baseline studies, needs assessments and impact evaluations designed with communities, not simply about them.

Evidence-Based Advocacy

Turning findings into clear, usable briefs for district assemblies, national agencies and regional bodies.

Policy Engagement

Sustained dialogue with policymakers on water access, climate adaptation, education and rural livelihoods.

Natural Resource Conflict Management

Research and facilitated dialogue on land and water competition, supporting peaceful, fair access to shared resources.

Knowledge Sharing

Publishing what worked and what didn't, so other organisations don't repeat avoidable mistakes.

Monitoring & Learning

Rigorous tracking across all our programmes, giving donors and communities an honest account of results.

HOW EVIDENCE TRAVELS

From a single village to district policy

“The most valuable thing we take from a community isn't a photograph. It's what we learned there — and where we take it next.”

Researchers, universities and policy partners welcome.

We're actively seeking collaborators for evidence-based work across Northern Ghana.
