FOCUS AREA · QUALITY EDUCATION
A classroom should never be the reason a child falls behind.
We support schools with the WASH facilities, materials and teacher backing that let children learn without interruption — and we use those same classrooms to grow a generation that understands how to care for the land around them.
THE CHALLENGE
Missing basics interrupt learning
In many rural schools, a missing toilet block, no reliable water point, or a shortage of basic learning materials can push attendance down — particularly for girls once they reach adolescence. Overstretched teachers, meanwhile, often lack the training and support to keep pace with larger classes.
These are solvable, practical gaps — and closing them keeps children in school long enough to finish.
OUR APPROACH
What a ReliefEcho education programme delivers
School WASH Facilities
Latrine blocks and water points built to keep schools running through every season. Part of our WASH programme →
Sanitation Facilities
Household and institutional latrines built to a standard that protects the water sources nearby.
Hygiene Education
Community-led hygiene promotion — handwashing, safe storage, and menstrual hygiene management for schools.
WASH Committees
Trained local committees who manage, maintain and repair water points long after our team has moved on.
Water Quality Testing
Regular testing to confirm water stays safe to drink, season after season.
School WASH
Purpose-built facilities in schools, so no child skips class for lack of a working toilet. See our Education programmes →
